SIRIUS XM Radio announces extensive broadcast coverage of 2009-10 NHL Season

Live play-by-play of NHL games will be available to XM subscribers and SIRIUS subscribers with the “Best of XM” NHL Home Ice channel offers hockey talk and analysis 365 days a year

SIRIUS XM Radio will offer listeners around the country comprehensive coverage of the 2009-10 NHL season with an extensive schedule of live play-by-play of NHL games and daily hockey talk on the NHL Home Ice channel.

Starting with tonight’s Opening Night games and through the Stanley Cup Final, XM listeners will have access to live play-by-play of every regular season and playoff game on XM channels 204-209. SIRIUS subscribers with the “Best of XM” programming package will get most regular season games and every NHL postseason game on SIRIUS channels 208-220.

In addition to live games, SIRIUS XM offers the 24/7 hockey talk radio channel, NHL Home Ice, on XM channel 204 and SIRIUS channel 208 with the “Best of XM.” NHL Home Ice features live play-by-play, plus hockey talk, news and analysis every day of the year.

NHL Home Ice features the weekly live show, NHL Hour, hosted by NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and a rotation of League executives, including Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly and Senior Executive VP of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell. The hour-long show, co-hosted by former NHL player Bill Clement, debuts today and airs every Thursday (4:00 pm ET). SIRIUS XM Radio, the Official Satellite Radio Partner of the NFL, announced that it will provide NFL fans from coast-to-coast with comprehensive coverage of the 2009 NFL Draft, offering live access to the announcements of all 256 draft choices, plus expert analysis, on SIRIUS NFL Radio (SIRIUS channel 124, XM channel 124 with the “Best of SIRIUS” programming package)

On Saturday, April 25, the SIRIUS NFL Radio channel will broadcast live from NFL Draft headquarters at Radio City Music Hall in New York City from 3:00 pm ET through the end of the second round. On Sunday, April 26, live on-site coverage resumes at 10:00 am ET with the first pick of the third round and continues through the draft’s final selection. In all, SIRIUS NFL Radio will provide 16 hours of live coverage from inside Radio City plus full pre- and post-Draft analysis.

SIRIUS NFL Radio’s Draft coverage will include live announcements of all 32 teams’ selections plus one-on-one interviews with dozens of draftees, general managers and coaches from around the league. 2009 season premieres with the World Series Champion Philadelphia Phillies hosting the Atlanta Braves on Opening Night

MLB Home Plate channel’s Scott Graham and Buck Martinez to host pre-game special live on Opening Night from Citizens Bank Park

SIRIUS XM Radio announced that XM Radio will air every game of the 2009 MLB season live nationwide starting with Opening Night, April 5, when the World Series Champion Philadelphia Phillies will host the Atlanta Braves at 8:00 pm ET at Citizens Bank Park. Listeners from coast to coast will hear the Phillies radio broadcast for the game, featuring legendary broadcaster Harry Kalas, Scott Franzke and Larry Andersen, on XM channel 175.

MLB Home Plate, SIRIUS XM’s 24-hour baseball talk channel, will broadcast live on Opening Night from Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia prior to the Phillies-Braves game. Scott Graham and former Major League catcher and manager Buck Martinez will host a pre-game special from 5:00-8:00 pm, interviewing players and talking to fans around the country as a lead-in to that night’s game and the start of the 2009 season.

The following day, April 6, XM will carry all 13 games from MLB’s traditional Opening Day.
