SIRIUS XM Radio announced that longtime NFL broadcaster and Super Bowl winning head coach John Madden will return for his sixth season as a commentator on SIRIUS NFL Radio, available nationwide on SIRIUS channel 124 and XM channel 124 with the “Best of SIRIUS.”

Throughout the 2009 NFL season, listeners can hear Madden live every Friday at 11:30 am ET/8:30 am PT with SIRIUS XM host Adam Schein on The SIRIUS Blitz, the daily talk show on SIRIUS NFL Radio. Madden will make his 2009 debut on Thursday, September 10, joining Schein live at 11:30 am ET/8:30 am PT to discuss that night’s NFL season opener, featuring the Steelers and the Titans, as well as the opening weekend games.

Each week Madden’s analysis will replay Sunday morning on The SIRIUS NFL Tailgate Show, SIRIUS NFL Radio’s original pre-game program (Sundays from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm ET).

In April, Madden announced his retirement from the TV broadcast booth, where for nearly 30 years he was one of television’s most popular personalities. He has been a SIRIUS NFL Radio commentator since 2004 and fans will continue to hear him each week as he breaks down game match-ups and discusses key NFL topics throughout the season.

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences honored Madden with 16 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Sports Analyst/Personality and he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006. Prior to his career on television, Madden was head coach of the Oakland Raiders from 1969 through 1978, where he compiled a 103-32-7 record and led the team to victory in Super Bowl XI.

SIRIUS XM Radio announced that it will offer live hole-by-hole coverage of the 2009 Masters Tournament this Thursday, April 9, through Sunday, April 12, nationwide on XM channel 146 and on SIRIUS channel 209 with the “Best of XM” programming package.

SIRIUS XM will offer listeners extensive coverage of the season’s first major championship with live play-by-play from Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, GA, plus expert analysis every day of Masters Week.

Live broadcasts from Augusta will begin at 12:00 pm ET Thursday through Sunday with SIRIUS XM’s John Tautges and Brian Katrek hosting The Masters Today, a daily preview show that will lead into each day’s on-course play-by-play. The live hole-by-hole coverage will air from 2:00 pm ET through the end of each day’s play giving fans live reports from around the course and access to golfers on and off the leaderboard. On-course coverage will be immediately followed by a nightly wrap-up show, Masters Replay, that will include a recap of the day’s action with highlights, analysis and interviews with players.

In addition to the live play-by-play, SIRIUS XM listeners will hear daily talk and analysis by The PGA TOUR Network’s lineup of expert hosts.

Every weekday morning, listeners can tune into special Masters editions of the daily talk shows Playing Thru (8:00-10:00 am ET), hosted by T.J. Rives, and Making The Turn (10:00-11:00 am ET), hosted by Peter Kessler.

MLB Home Plate channel’s Scott Graham and Buck Martinez to host pre-game special live on Opening Night from Citizens Bank Park

SIRIUS XM Radio announced that XM Radio will air every game of the 2009 MLB season live nationwide starting with Opening Night, April 5, when the World Series Champion Philadelphia Phillies will host the Atlanta Braves at 8:00 pm ET at Citizens Bank Park. Listeners from coast to coast will hear the Phillies radio broadcast for the game, featuring legendary broadcaster Harry Kalas, Scott Franzke and Larry Andersen, on XM channel 175.

MLB Home Plate, SIRIUS XM’s 24-hour baseball talk channel, will broadcast live on Opening Night from Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia prior to the Phillies-Braves game. Scott Graham and former Major League catcher and manager Buck Martinez will host a pre-game special from 5:00-8:00 pm, interviewing players and talking to fans around the country as a lead-in to that night’s game and the start of the 2009 season.

The following day, April 6, XM will carry all 13 games from MLB’s traditional Opening Day. Through the regular season and post-season, XM will air every game from all 30 Major League teams on XM channels 175 to 189.
