<p style="text-align: justify;">Panini America will tip off the new NBA collecting season with a late-February hobby release of <strong>2012 Preferred Basketball</strong>, a new high-end addition that will deliver three autographs and one six- or eight-swatch memorabilia booklet card in every pack and will retail for $200.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Preferred will be followed by the triumphant return of the venerable <strong>Hoops</strong> brand (March), a collecting landmark that ignited the basketball collecting craze with a history-making debut in 1989-90. With a $1 retail pack price, Hoops will appeal to a broad fan base and will also include autographed buybacks of original 1989-90 Hoops cards. Panini also will release a hobby-specific version of Hoops ($2 a pack and $72 a box) that will feature 29 inserts, autographed copies of original 1989-90 Hoops cards and two autographs per box.<span id="more-1585"></span></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: justify;">The National Basketball Association (NBA) and Bacardi U.S.A., Inc. announced the regional winners of the inaugural Gold Standard  Scholarship Program.  The twenty-four adult students (aged 21+) from  culturally diverse communities will now vie for their chance to receive  an additional $30,000 scholarship as four national winners will be selected by public voting beginning at www.nba.com/goldstandard.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Through the program, the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and  the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) selected 24 minority students who  are pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees to receive a $10,000  scholarship.  Starting today, fans may go online to vote for the four  students &#8212; one male and one female from each organization &#8212; to be  selected as national scholarship recipients and receive an additional $30,000 in financial support.  Voting will close on Monday, May 30 and the winners will be announced during a special event in Miami, Fla. in late June.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Information on the 24 Gold Standard Scholarship Program regional winners, 12 each selected by the TMCF and HSF, is available at www.nba.com/goldstandard.<span id="more-1237"></span></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: justify;">The 2011 BBVA NBA All-Star Celebrity Game that tipped off NBA  All-Star 2011 last Friday proved to be an exciting event and is drawing  rave reviews, not only by the sold-out crowd that packed the Los Angeles  Convention Center, but by the record number of fans who watched on TV  and fans who participated via Twitter. The viral nature of the social  networking site was readily apparent as fans caught up with Bieber Fever voted musician <strong> Justin Bieber </strong> the Most Valuable Player of the BBVA NBA All-Star Celebrity Game.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The ESPN telecast of the 2011 BBVA NBA All-Star Celebrity Game was  the most watched in the event&#8217;s history, drawing 2.3 million viewers, up  12 percent over last year&#8217;s game according to Nielsen Media Research.  The game was also one of the top trending topics worldwide on Twitter  leading up to and continuing throughout the game. At the conclusion of  the game, the hashtag <strong>#bbvacelebgame</strong> was the #2 trending topic worldwide, trailing only &#8220;Twitter Mobile,&#8221; a promoted topic by Twitter.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Additionally, during the 2011 BBVA NBA All-Star Celebrity Game, participants including Justin Bieber, Mitch Richmond, Scottie Pippen, Nick Cannon, Jason Alexander and Jalen Rose were all top trending topics worldwide.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The East team, coached by <strong> Bill Walton </strong> (Basketball Hall of Famer), <strong> Jason Alexander </strong> (<em>Seinfeld</em>), and <strong> Bill Simmons </strong> (ESPN.com columnist) defeated the West team, coached by <strong>Magic Johnson</strong> (ESPN analyst, Basketball Hall of Famer), <strong> Jimmy Kimmel </strong> (<em>Jimmy Kimmel Live!</em>) and <strong> Ty Burrell </strong> (<em>Modern Family</em>), by a score of 54-49. Basketball Hall of Famer, Scottie Pippen,  led the East team with 17 points. However, it was the 16-year old  Bieber who excited the crowd with his deft dribbling abilities and solid  performance including eight points, four assists and two rebounds.  Following the game, Bieber was presented the MVP trophy by BBVA Compass  Senior Executive Vice President and head of Retail Banking  Shelaghmichael Brown.<span id="more-1116"></span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Also participating in the game were legendary NBA players Rick Fox, Mitch Richmond, Jalen Rose, AC Green and Chris Mullin, and WNBA players Tamika Catchings and Swin Cash. Celebrities included famous names such as Common, Michael Rapaport, Romeo Miller, Trey Songs, Nick Cannon, Zac Levi and Rob Kardashian.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In addition to the Celebrity Game, BBVA, the Official Bank of the  NBA, also participated in the NBA&#8217;s All-Star Day of Service by helping  refurbish Virgil Middle School in Los Angeles  through its U.S. subsidiary BBVA Compass. Joining the more than 50 BBVA  Compass volunteers were Mayor of Los Angeles Antonio Villaraigosa,  Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, and NBA Legends Dikembe Mutombo and David Robinson.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In January, the NBA and BBVA launched the <strong>Team. Works. in Schools(SM)</strong> initiative to refurbish schools throughout the BBVA Compass Sunbelt  footprint. Earlier this year, BBVA Compass teamed up with NBA Cares on a  Team. Works. in Schools initiative to refurbish Jesse Jones High School in Houston.  As part of the revitalization, the school received new paint,  landscaping, and a complete renovation of the library and technology  center, including new computers, printers, books, and other educational  resources. The total investment of the revitalization of Jesse Jones High School by BBVA Compass exceeded $200,000.  This was the first of six such projects between BBVA Compass and  partner NBA Cares. Team. Works. in Schools revitalization projects  planned for later this year include schools in Birmingham, Dallas/Fort  Worth, McAllen, Phoenix, and San Antonio.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">BBVA joined the NBA in September 2010  as part of a comprehensive multiyear marketing partnership which makes  BBVA the Official Bank of the NBA, the Women&#8217;s National Basketball  Association (WNBA) and the NBA Development League (NBA D-League) in the United States, Spain and Puerto Rico.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">This Spring, BBVA Compass and the NBA will team up for a grassroots basketball tour called <strong>Team. Works. on Tour(SM)</strong>.  The mobile tour will feature a 67-foot, 18-wheel truck that transforms  into 6,000 square feet of basketball activities. These activities  include two basketball areas, a technology area where fans can play the  latest NBA video games, and a video wall with NBA game footage and BBVA  Compass product and service information. The tour is scheduled to be  held in 10 communities within the BBVA Compass Sunbelt footprint and  will allow fans to experience an authentic NBA environment. <p>NBA Star <strong>Shaquille O&#8217;Neal</strong> is bringing the  entertainment to NBA All-Star Weekend again with the help of friends <strong> Jamie Foxx </strong> and <strong> Kevin Hart </strong> in a series of comedy and music shows aptly titled, <strong>Shaq&#8217;s All-Star Weekend</strong>, February 17-19 at LA Live. Thursday night features Jamie Foxx  at Club Nokia performing songs from his new album along with surprise  special guests.  Kevin Hart will perform Friday and Saturday at the  Nokia Theatre.  Kevin&#8217;s &#8220;Laugh at My Pain&#8221; special will be filmed live  and released theatrically by Codeblack Entertainment.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. announced that Portland Trail Blazers All-Star guard Brandon Roy will lace &#8216;em up for the cover of <strong>NBA 10: The Inside</strong>, due to hit stores on October 6, 2009. NBA 10: The Inside will be the only officially licensed first party basketball game available exclusively for PSP (PlayStation Portable). Entering his fourth professional season, Roy has established himself as one the NBA&#8217;s most exciting young stars and a premiere pressure player. The 2008-2009 campaign proved to be a career year for the phenom as he averaged 22.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game while earning All-NBA Second Team honors and a second consecutive All-Star nod in route to a Trail Blazers playoff berth.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Born in Seattle, WA, Roy played his college basketball in the Pacific Northwest attending the University of Washington. After an All-American career and a Pac-10 Conference Player of the Year award in his senior year, Roy was drafted sixth overall in the 2006 NBA Draft. As a rookie, he quickly made an impact being named T-Mobile NBA Rookie of the Year in a near-unanimous vote. <p style="text-align: justify;">The items in Michael Jordan&#8217;s 50+ lot collection represent his substantial time on the golf course. While not every piece of equipment was employed by the basketball legend, some golf clubs and bags show substantial use. Expected to fetch $30,000-$40,000, the group is being sold to benefit the James Jordan Foundation.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">&#8220;An iconic athlete&#8217;s personal ephemera is always a huge draw for bidders,&#8221; said David Hunt, president of Hunt Auctions. &#8220;We&#8217;re thrilled to be offering such a unique collection for both Michael Jordan and golf enthusiasts alike.&#8221;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Also up for auction is a private collection of Michael Jordan memorabilia that includes several significant pieces, including a selection of items from the famed 1992 USA Olympic Basketball &#8220;Dream Team&#8221;. Of particular interest is Jordan&#8217;s warm up jacket from the 1992 games in Barcelona estimated at $4,000-$5,000. The 125-lot collection is offered for the first time publicly with a portion of the proceeds being donated to the James Jordan Foundation.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Additional items up for bid include a pair of Nike sneakers LeBron James wore and inscribed in tribute to President Barack Obama. The sneakers, which read, &#8220;44th President Barack Obama,&#8221; across the front, were worn during a game on January 23, 2009.</p>
