Cheer On the Detroit Tigers and Help Raise Much-Needed Student Scholarship Funds

Cornerstone Schools is hosting the 4th annual “Be a Tiger for Kids” event at Comerica Park on Tuesday, August 18th. This fun-filled, family event supports the children of Cornerstone and makes possible an excellent education and prepares students for life and leadership.

Join the energy and enthusiasm of Cornerstone’s community of friends when they cheer on the Detroit Tigers as they play the Seattle Mariners. Game time is 7:05 p.m.

Festivities kick off at 4:30 p.m. at the Rock-N-Roar tailgate party at Ford Field. A variety of food, entertainment, face painting, balloons and games for children of all ages will be provided at this exclusive pre-game party. At approximately 6:15 p.m., party goers will collectively make their way to Comerica Park to see the Cornerstone Honors Choir perform the Star Spangled Banner.

“Our annual Be a Tiger for Kids event offers the community an opportunity to provide Cornerstone students with an excellent education which prepares them for life and leadership, says Cornerstone CEO and Founding Chairman Clark Durant. “We look forward to packing the park on August 18th, making a difference in these children’s lives and continuing our mission of ‘Changing Detroit — One Child at a Time’.”

One hundred percent of the donations received go towards the Cornerstone Scholarship Fund. Many of the parents whose children now attend Cornerstone are at or below the poverty line and have been negatively impacted by the economic conditions in the city. All of the student’s parents must pay something towards their child’s tuition regardless of their financial means. A donation to the school’s scholarship fund fills the financial gap.

There are several tax deductible donation options available ranging from $15 – $250:

  • Ultimate Fan Package ($250) — sends a child to school for one week per year.
  • Receives one premier game ticket (best seats available on a first-come, first-served basis), entry for one to the private pre-game Rock-N-Roar tailgate and a commemorative event tee shirt. As an ultimate fan, you will be eligible to win a special opportunity to attend batting practice with the Tigers.
  • Grand Fan Package ($150) — sends a child to school for three days per year.
  • Receives a premium game ticket, entry into the private, pre-game tailgate party and an event t-shirt.
  • Fan Package ($100) — sends a child to school for two days per year.
