Subaru Rally Team USA Drivers David Higgins and Dave Mirra to Compete at Summer X Games 17
Subaru Rally Team USA drivers David Higgins and Dave Mirra head to Los Angeles this week to compete in Summer X Games 17.
Higgins and Mirra look to add to the team’s successes at X Games competing in the Rally Car and Rallycross events July 30th and 31st respectively. Each will drive a 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STI modified for Rallycross with an excess of 550 horsepower Boxer engine and Symmetrical All Wheel Drive.
For 2011, Higgins won the Rally America Championship after three overall wins and two second place finishes of the six events of the series. In June, he smashed the 13-year course record at the Mt. Washington Hill Climb and placed second at the A Main final of the Global Rallycross series at Pikes Peak. David is competing in his first X Games.
“I have heard so much about the X Games and have watched from home many times so I’m really looking forward to being a part of it,” said Higgins. “There really is nothing like it in the world and to be racing on the streets of Los Angeles should be spectacular for the drivers and the fans.” Read more
Top Players Square Off at the 2011 U.S. National Lawn Bowling Championships in Seattle, WA August 24-28
From August 24-28, the 2011 U.S. National Lawn Bowling Championships will take over the pristine greens of the Jefferson Park Lawn Bowling Club in a four-day tournament featuring the nation’s top players.
Forty-eight players (24 men and 24 women) representing all seven divisions of the U.S. Lawn Bowls Association (USLBA) have qualified in their divisional play downs to compete for the National Championship title in a round-robin tournament of Women’s Singles, Men’s Singles, Women’s Pairs and Men’s Pairs events.
Jefferson Park LBC, a North West Division member of the USLBA, will host the four-day tournament located at 4103 Beacon Ave. S., atop Seattle’s Beacon Hill overlooking the iconic Seattle skyline. Read more
Premier Basketball League Welcomes the Sauk Valley Predators to the 2012 Season
The Premier Basketball League is excited to welcome its newest addition to the PBL team roster with the Sauk Valley Predators. The Sauk Valley area covers all of Northwest Illinois, a great sports community that loves and supports professional basketball.
Brad Grenoble, owner and general manager of the team, is looking forward to the upcoming season and being a part of the PBL. “Our goal is to bring professional sports to our community, allowing community members the opportunity to experience family fun and excitement right at their back door,” Grenoble said.
Grenoble brings years of experience in the sports industry to the PBL. Prior to his newest venture with the Predators, Grenoble served as marketing director and assistant general manager to the Southern Illinois Miners (a team out of the Frontier Baseball League). During his two years with the Southern Illinois Miners, Grenoble helped orchestrate the startup of a 25 million dollar stadium for the team. Registration is open for the 15th Annual Chicago Half Marathon and 5k on September 11, 2011 where 20,000 runners will hit the scenic Chicago streets, starting and ending just south of the Museum of Science and Industry in Jackson Park.
Runners will enjoy a beautiful half-marathon course along Lake Shore Drive, starting and finishing in Jackson Park, offering scenic views of the iconic Chicago skyline. Runners will experience entertainment along the course and the benefit of water and Gatorade Endurance at 11 water stations throughout the course including the start and finish. McDonald’s Unveiled Sponsorship Plans for London 2012 Olympic Games
McDonald’s Corporation announced its sponsorship plans for London 2012 that will focus on championing happy, active kids. The new McDonald’s Champions of Play for the Olympic Games features five-time U.S. Olympic Swimmer and mom, Dara Torres, as the global ambassador.

Building on the success of McDonald’s kids’ program at the Olympic Games in Beijing and Vancouver, McDonald’s Champions of Play for the Olympic Games will bring kids from around the world together for a unique experience in London. The new global program will encourage a balanced approach to nutrition and activity for children.
Participating McDonald’s countries will initiate grassroots activities for children ages 6 to 10. Through a local market selection process, up to 200 children and a guardian will travel to London for the 2012 Olympic Games. Read more
